Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s in Sport Management

What is the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s in Sport Management?

The Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s in Sport Management program provides an opportunity for undergraduate students at the University of Arkansas to complete graduate level courses in the final calendar year of their undergraduate degree. The ability to enroll in graduate level courses accelerates students’ exposure to graduate coursework and the timeline to complete the Master of Science in Sport Management degree upon conferral of their undergraduate degree.

What graduate-level courses can a student in the accelerated degree program take?

Accelerated Degree Program students may take up to 12 credit hours of graduate coursework (50000- and 60000-level coursework) in the last 12 months of their undergraduate degree that will be counted toward both their bachelor's and master's degrees.

The four courses are SPMT 58803 in lieu of RESM 38803 or a general elective, SPMT 58103 in lieu of RESM 40103 or a general elective, SPMT 58903 in lieu of RESM 38903 or a general elective, and/or SPMT 65303 in lieu of RESM 38703 or a general elective.

Upon completion of the bachelor's degree (including the graduate courses), the Accelerated Degree Program students who have an average 3.0 grade-point average or higher in up to 12 hours of graduate courses will be accepted by the Sport Management Program faculty into the M.S. in Sport Management degree program after admittance into the Graduate School.

How does a student apply to the accelerated degree program?

Applicants for the M.S. in Sport Management under the Accelerated Degree Program must be a U of A undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree, completed at least 60 credit hours toward a bachelor's degree and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

All prospective students who apply to the Accelerated Degree Program are evaluated by the Sport Management Program faculty using a variety of factors, including GPA, résumé, 500-word interest statement, and contact information for three references.
