Ph.D.

The Doctor of Philosophy program in Health, Sport and Exercise Science, with a Concentration in Recreation and Sport Management, prepares students to become teachers, researchers, and leaders in the area of recreation, sport management and leisure in university settings. 

Graduate students in recreation have a variety of capstone experiences including:

  • independent research projects
  • internship experiences
  • presentations at research seminars or professional meetings
  • publications in professional journals
  • oral and written examinations, thesis, and dissertation

Graduate students are provided the opportunity to connect classroom learning with actual research or service learning through courses such as independent research, dissertation research, fieldwork and community projects.
